Omani official admires Iranian cinema

Advisor to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos for Cultural Affairs Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Rowas has admired the products of Iranian cinema industry.

The Sultan's advisor hailed Iranian cinema during a meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Muscat Hojatoleslam Nouri-Shahroudi on Tuesday.

Iran's ambassador underlined the need to expand cultural cooperation between the two nations mainly in cultural fields.

He also proposed setting up cultural week to help understand each other's culture and history which was welcomed by the Omani official.

Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjoui has recently been praised at the opening ceremony of the 10th Muscat International Film Festival in Oman.

The Omani festival paid tribute to the Iranian director with presenting a memorial plaque of honor.

A number of Iranian movies and short films were screened at the festival in Muscat and some awards went to Iranian representatives, including 'Cold Breath' by Abbas Raziji and 'Azadi Cinema' by Mehdi Tarafi.

More than 100 films from different countries were screened during the film festival in late March.
